Email Marketing FAQs
Have questions about email marketing, SMS, customer journeys, or working with MochaBear Marketing? Here are answers to some of the questions I hear most often.
-
An email marketing consultant helps you determine what you should be doing with your email marketing and what to prioritize.
That can include reviewing strategy and campaign performance, identifying customer journey opportunities, improving segmentation, evaluating database health, and helping you determine what to do next.
-
Strategy Sessions are customized around your business and your questions. We can cover email strategy, campaign performance, segmentation, automations, customer journeys, list growth, database health, deliverability, testing, reporting, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, SMS, and more.
I've worked in email marketing since 2001, so there's a good chance I've encountered a version of the challenge you're trying to solve.
-
An audit makes sense when you want a more comprehensive review of your email marketing program.
It can help identify what's working, what's missing, and where there are opportunities to improve. If you have one or two specific questions, a Strategy Session may be enough. If you want a deeper review of your overall program, an audit may be a better fit.

Absolutely. While I'm a Mailchimp Pro Partner and Klaviyo Bronze Partner, my expertise goes beyond any one platform.
I've worked with a variety of email marketing platforms throughout my career. Whether you're looking for an email marketing audit, strategic guidance, or help improving your customer journeys, segmentation, and overall email performance, I can help regardless of which platform you use.

Yes. I recommend starting with the customer journey rather than creating automations simply because your platform offers them.
What happens after someone subscribes, makes a purchase, becomes inactive, or shows interest in a particular product or service? From there, we can identify and prioritize the automations that make the most sense for your business.
If you'd rather tackle this yourself, my DIY Lifecycle Flow Planning Framework walks you through mapping your customer journeys, identifying automation opportunities, and deciding which flows to prioritize.

Yes. Good segmentation is about using the data you have to make your email marketing more relevant.
That might include purchase behavior, engagement, interests, customer lifecycle stage, or other customer data. The important question isn't just, "What segments can we create?" It's, "What are we going to do differently with this information?"

Yes. Database health and deliverability are important parts of a strong email marketing program.
That includes understanding who is on your list, identifying invalid or problematic addresses, reviewing engagement and signup practices, and evaluating authentication, sending practices, and other factors that can affect deliverability.
-
There isn't one right frequency for every business.
The goal is to stay connected with your customers without sending simply because your marketing calendar says it's time. Consistency matters, but so does relevance.
